barcode scanner not working on laptop?
My barcode scanner, a PSC Quickscan 6000 Plus (wired), worked fine on my desktop PC which had windows xp. I recently purchased a laptop with Vista. My barcode scanner has a p/2 cable, so I had to get a p/2 to USB adaptor to connect it to my laptop. When I connected directly to the laptop, the scanner would get power, but when I scan, nothing happens. I then connected the scanner and a keyboard together, then into the laptop. I now get weird results, just a few numbers.
Could someone tell me what I need to do to get my barcode scanner to work on my laptop?
Thanks!

hi, have u found solution for ur problem? Becoz i have the same exact problem. thanks
Buy a splitter for keyboard cable & connect your keyboard & scanner together in the keyboard slot. Then it will work. Otherwise see your scanner manual or Scanner website for help.
You have to enable laptop mode using barcode control codes in the appendix of the manual. I found a copy online at http://www.compulink-support.c.....00plus.pdf
If you can’t print out the necessary pages to enable laptop mode, the default mode requires that an external keyboard be attached with a Y cable.
